I did most of the driving today. (I'm an excellent driver, an excellent driver...) Mr. B was a bit under the weather, so he was relegated to navigator.
The drive along Highway 70 went through one of the most starkly beautiful landscapes I have ever seen. The highway followed jagged cuts in a layer cake of reds, rusts, tans, and grays. There were several times my eyes welled up from the grandeur. The most vibrant sights were only visible while driving. The view areas, while frequent, were on the edge of the cake, so to speak.
The following picture was taken from the Ghost Rock view area. The formations here were white and tan sandstones.
Further down the road, the rocks began to get redder in color.
By the time we reached our campsite in Moab, the rock formations were massive red walls surrounding much of the town.
Blogger note: the wifi is sucky slow here at the camp. There's a bandwidth limiter. Too slow for me to receive the pics that Mr. B took of our location. The demographics of the Moab site is much younger than the previous sites we've been at. This is mountain bike, ATV, 4-wheeling heaven for the active set. I'll finish uploading the pictures tomorrow.
Good night from Moab.
I LOVE the second photo of the solitary tree in its land of many colors!
