Day 6: Sloth

Maybe we will get to all of the deadly sins - today was sloth. After a brisk morning (and by brisk I mean damn cold) getting the dogs fed and exercised, it was time for our breakfast. It included the free dehydrated hash browns we got from the Spud Museum.  As the cook, I may be biased, but it was a darn good breakfast.

The rest of the morning we spent trying to find where we could go with this epic cold-snap coming.  Either it is too cold (will be 27 here in Lava Hot Springs), or too hot (Moab is still in the high 80s). But we have to escape the possibility of freezing pipes, so tomorrow we will heading to Provo, UT.  There is an RV park by the lake, so it should be tolerable.  From there, we will need to decide our next destination.

The late afternoon saw us "taking in the waters" again, and then having epic massages right there at the hot springs facility (see: SLOTH).  Of course, back in the hot springs after the massages (see: MORE SLOTH).

Then we had our first restaurant dinner of the trip, at a Thai restaurant that was on our walk back to the campsite. How does a Thai family get to Lava Hot Springs (population: 400, and I think they include some fish), you may ask? We wondered the exact same thing. But since the server is actually Thai and didn't speak much English, our answer was "we came with mother from Bangkok".

So tonight, we will close up the MF as tight as possible, throw a blanket over the dogs, and hunker down to watch the Monday night's Castle, which only took about 2 hours to download the HD version on the KOA WiFi. Wifi is free at KOAs, and I have found varying degrees of goodness, but never sucky, so +1 to them.  Just for comparison, I had to pay for Wifi in hotels in Tokyo, Gangnam, Beijing, Shenzen, and other so called business capitals. But here in Lava Hot Springs? FREE, as all the pony-tailed Linux hacks intended it to be.

Too bad we'll miss the presidential debate. But since we will be in Utah, they'd probably only play the Romney "zingers" ;-)...

  1. You caught the zinger comment, too. I will represent and report back. Provo always reminds me of Fletch. Get me some 40-weight ball bearings and some Prestone...no, make that Quaker State.
